“…Recent experimental studies (e.g., Azevedo & Todorov, 2016;Baia, Lemes, Biano, Pereira, & Sousa, 2017;Baia & Vasconcelos, 2015;Borba, Tourinho, & Glenn, 2017;Carvalho, Couto, Gois, Sandaker, & Todorov, 2017;Gomes & Tourinho, 2016;Hosoya & Tourinho, 2016;Marques & Tourinho, 2015;Vasconcelos & Todorov, 2015) have shown the selection of interlocking behavioral contingencies (IBCs) and their aggregate products (APs) by cultural consequences (CCs), providing empirical support for the concept of the metacontingency (Glenn, 2004;Glenn et al, 2016).…”

“…The metacontingent model helps provide explanations at this level of analysis, at which there are interlocking behavioral contingencies (Glenn et al, ). Here, behaviors between individuals interconnect, generating an aggregated product and modifying the environment (generating a consequence), which can select future aggregated products or adaptation behaviors between individuals towards a new configuration of the aggregated product (Carvalho, Couto, Gois, Sandaker, & Todorov, ). The marketing mix is conceived as this aggregated product (derived from the specialized jobs interconnected between individuals; Foxall, ) and the immediate consequences are the expenses of these activities for the company, as well as the transactions between it and its customers and, in the short term, the derivations of these transactions and expenses, such as profit or loss, sales competitiveness, and total company value on the stock exchange.…”
