Introduction: Poor outcome is still a challenging concern in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) world-wide and there are large differences between European countries regarding not only incidence rates, but survival rates as well. In 2014, Serbian Resuscitation Council initiated regular data collection on epidemiology of OHCA, according to the European Registry of Cardiac Arrest (EuReCa) study protocol. Study Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the results of the first five-year period after initiation of EuReCa study protocol elements implementation in OHCA epidemiological data collection in Serbia. Methods: The observed period in this study is about the data on OHCA, collected within the observed area of 16 municipalities covering 1,604,015 citizens, during the period from October 1, 2014 – December 31, 2019. The study included data on all-cause OHCA in both adult and pediatric patients, according to the EuReCa One study protocol, of which all segments were observed. Results: Within the study period, 5,196 OHCA patients were observed with annual incidence of 83.60/100,000. Of all registered events, 43.9% were witnessed. The most common collapse location was patient’s residence (88.7%). Within the group of initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), cardiac etiology was observed in 80.5% of cases and shockable rhythm in 21.7%. Return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) prior to hospital admission was significantly more frequently achieved and maintained on admission in witnessed cases, cases occurring out of patient’s residence, and in cases with shockable initial rhythm (P <.01). Conclusion: The OHCA incidence in Serbia is comparable with the incidence in the majority of European countries, and survival rates are now significantly higher in Utstein events compared to previous results from Serbia. Enrolment of witnessing bystanders in initiating CPR measures remains a concern requiring effort towards understanding of CPR initiation importance and education of general population in administering CPR measures.

Moć medija kao edukativnog oružja u kardiopulmonalnoj resuscitaciji ili fiktivna vizija bez realnostiThe power of media as educational weapon in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or a fictional vision without reality Sažetak Televizijske serije koje se bave medicinskom problematikom privlače veliku pažnju i gledanost, a zbog dramatičnosti scena primene mera resuscitacije. Cilj radaSagledana je povezanost uzroka, toka i ishoda kardiopulmonalne resuscitacije (KPR) u televizijskim serijama i aktuelnih preporuka i ishodom intervencija u studiji EuReCa_Srbija. MetodologijaPregledom dostupne literature su izdvojeni radovi koji se bave analizom epidemioloških podataka toka intervencije i ishoda primene KPR u televizijskim serijama sa predominantnom medicinskom tematikom. Rezultati dostupne literature su upoređeni sa podacima iz programa EuReCa _Srbija. Rezultati:Pregledano je 2043 epizoda popularnih serija, zabeleženo 790 scena sa započetim merama resuscitacije. Vodeći uzrok srčanog zastoja bila je trauma, što nije u skladu sa literaturom. U televizijskim serijama srčani zastoj se beleži kod osoba muškog pola u 51%-81% slučaja. Preživljavanje se kreće od 13% do 72%, što je značajno više nego u dostupnoj literaturi. U 30%-64 % KPR se ne primenjuje po važećim preporukama. Zaključak:Ne postoji povezanost između uzroka, toka i ishoda mera resuscitacije u televizijskim serijama sa stvarnim podacima iz života. Percepcija stvarnosti je zamagljena i prilagođena potrebama dramaturgije, stoga se ove serije ne mogu smatrati edukativnim. Veliki broj preživelih nakon srčanog zastoja značajno ohrabruje laike da započnu KPR, ali i otežava rad zaposlenih u službama hitne medicinske pomoći idealizacijom likova iz serija. Od onih koji emituju takav sadržaj neophodno je zahtevati da na početku i na kraju seriju navedu da je sadržaj serije umetnička percepcija stvarnosti i da opisani događaji se ne oslanjaju na stručne i naučne podatke iz stvarne medicinske prakse. Abstract Aim:The correlation of causes, progress and outcome of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was analyzed in television (TV) shows and compared with the current CPR recommendations and interventions outcome in EuReCa_Serbia program.

Materijal i metode:Analizirani su podaci EuReCa Srbija Trauma Programa (ESTP) gde su zabeleženi podaci o zbrinjavanju trauma u prehospitalnim službama iz 10 centara iz Srbije. ESTP je formiran i postavljen od strane Resuscitacionog Saveta Srbije, predstavlja opservacionu, prospektivnu studiju. Za analizu su uzeti podaci u vremenskom periodu 1.09. -31.12.2018, obrađeni sa IBM SPSS Statistics 20.Rezultati U navedenom periodu registrovano je 3396 ESTP događaja. Vanbolničkih događaja registrovano je 1214 (35,7%) od svih događaja (χ2=275,920; df = 1; p = 0,000). Postoje značajne razlike u vremenskoj distribuciji u odnosu na doba dana i pol. Žene su statistički značajno starije (Z = -9,761; p = 0,000). Prosečna životna dob je 53 godine, a mediana 56. Najveći procenat pacijenata 36,6% traumu je doživeo od 16-22h i 06-12h. Kod muškaraca se više intervenisalo noću (10,1% vs. 6%), a kod žena prepodne (35% vs. 30,1%). Najviše pacijenata sa traumom kod kojih je intervenisala HMP je bilo između 10-12h (14.7%), a najmanje između 2-3h (0,9%). ZaključakPodaci iz ESTP ukazuju da se najveći broj trauma događaja registruje u prepodnevnim i ranim popodnevnim satima. Trauma je bolest starijeg životnog doba. Abstract Aim:The aim of this paper is to determine when trauma event happens most often and to determine gender difference.
