“…Die Schale, auf der zwei hieroglyphenluwische Inschriften angebracht sind, wird mindestens seit den 60er Jahren 67 Hrozný (1929) 332, 340-341, Hrozný (1940) 129, Starke (1997) 69 Der Name erscheint hier immer in exakter Umschrift, um nicht durch eine bestimmte Form Nähe zu einem bestimmten Namen zu suggerieren. Prinzipiell sind 40 verschiedene Lesungen für den Namen möglich: Tarawa(n)za, Tarwa(n)za, Tariwa(n)za, Trawa(n)za, Triwa(n)za, Tarawi(n)za, Laroche (1960) xxx mit "Coupe d'argent, provenant de Kargamis(?)" beschrieb, dürfte mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit mit der Silberschale von Ankara identisch sein.…”

ZusammenfassungIn den Jahren 2004 und 2005 kamen bei Arbeiten am sog. Totentempel Amenophis III. in Kom el-Hettan (Theben-West) verschiedene Fragmente von kolossalen beschrifteten Statuensockeln zutage. Diese ergänzen die schon bekannten, umfangreichen Fremdländerlisten aus dem Bereich dieses Tempels. Einige der in den Inschriften genannten Toponyme wurden inzwischen mit den Namen Asia, Ionia, Maeonia sowie mit dem aus hethitischen Quellen bekannten Land Luwiya in Verbindung gebracht. Der vorliegende Aufsatz bietet eine kritische Untersuchung dieser Identifikationen mit zwei Exkursen zu damit verbundenen Fragen der westkleinasiatischen Geographie der Hethiterzeit.

The most important depiction that shows that the Hittites kings are deified while in life is figure 34 at Yazılıkaya. The hieroglyphic inscription shows that he is D UTU.AN 'The Sun God of the Sky' and its garment shows that he is a king. The most important sign in defining the identification of the figure is the winged sun disk symbol. The Hittite winged sun disk should have had symbolized the Hittite sphinx. As to the Hittite sphinx as supported by the Hittite texts, it should represent the superior powers of the kings and the queens. In this connection, the winged sun disk symbol should had been used as the emblem of the Kingdom. As to the Hittite art, the figures with heads crowned by this symbol should have had represented the kings or the queens, and in other cases it should have had been used as the emblem of the Kingdom of the Hatti Land.
