“…These findings showed that the complex had the ability to stimuli the mucus secretion. In agreement with several studies [33], [34], [69], [70], [77], our investigation revealed that the exposure of gastric mucosa to oxidative stress was restricted through the oral administration of omeprazole (5.790×10 −5 M/kg) or the complex as a pre-treatment. The involvement of formation of PGE-2 in the gastroprotective mechanisms was previously investigated with conflicting evidences [25], [29], [33], [34].…”

“…Treatment of peptic ulcers focuses on eliminating pain, healing ulceration and preventing recurrence. Pharmacological intervention has historically been directed at the suppression of peptic acid secretion and more recently the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (Castillo‐Juárez et al, ; da Silva et al, ). However, currently available pharmacological treatments are not completely effective and can provoke adverse reactions.…”

“…It was observed that acetic acid injury occurs by alteration of multiple factors such as growth factors, NO, iNOS activity, and antioxidant properties (Kobayashi and others ). Ulcer healing was a complex process, which involved cell proliferation, replication of epithelial cells at the ulcer margins to reestablish the glandular architecture, angiogenesis in the granulation tissue at the base of the ulcer, and matrix deposition, all ultimately leading to scar formation (da Silva and others ). In current experiments, the efficacy of CCP was comparable to the protective effects of cimetidine, because acidity of the gastric contents secreted, as well as macroscopic and histopathological lesion parameters were reduced when compared to EC group, reinforcing the potential use of CCP for the treatment of gastric ulcers.…”
