Estudo taxonômico de Polygala subgênero Ligustrina (Chodat) Paiva (Polygalaceae)

Abstract

Resumo(Estudo taxonômico de Polygala subgênero Ligustrina (Chodat) Paiva (Polygalaceae)) O subgênero Ligustrina é caracterizado, dentro do gênero Polygala, sobretudo, pela presença de glândulas, geralmente cilíndricas, laterais à base do pecíolo e, freqüentemente, na raque da inflorescência; pelo estilete terminado em uma cavidade preestigmática infundibuliforme; por um disco subanular chanfrado lateralmente, circundando a base do ovário. O subgênero é restrito à América do Sul. Na busca de melhor delimitar os táxons desse subgênero, procede-se a análise morfológica de caracteres vegetativos, florais e frutíferos. São incluídas, também, nas análises morfológicas, a epiderme e a vascularização da lâmina foliar e a testa das sementes, por meio da microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). Os táxons são descritos, ilustrados, comentados e discutidos quanto as questões taxonômicas e nomenclaturais; dados sobre distribuição geográfica e formações vegetacionais são apresentados, bem como chave para a identificação das espécies e variedades. Os resultados obtidos definem 11 espécies e sete variedades subordinadas ao subgênero Ligustrina. Dentre estes táxons descreve-se uma nova espécie e três novas variedades. As espécies P. bangiana e P. insignis são restabelecidas; P. autranii é redefinida como variedade de P. spectabilis e P. sinuata é proposta como novo sinônimo de P. laureola. Abstract (Taxonomic study of Polygala subgenus Ligustrina (Chodat) Paiva (Polygalaceae)) The subgenus Ligustrina is characterized specially by the glands, generally cylindric, situated laterally at the base of the petiole and frequently in the rachis of the inflorescence and for the style terminated in one pre-stigmatic funnel -shaped hollow and by a sublunar disk laterally eleved that surrounds the ovary basis. The subgenus Ligustrina is restrieted to the South America. A detailed analysis of the floral and vegetative morphology characteristics of the subgenus, was realized, with the aim of to obtain a better delimitation of the taxa. It includes observations about the epidermis and leaf blade venation; the seeds are examined at scanning eletronic microscope. The specific and infraspecific taxa are described, illustrated, commented and discussed with relation to the taxonomic and nomenclatural questions. An identification key for the species and subgenus Ligustrina comprises 11 species and seven varieties. Among these taxa, a new species and three varieties are described. The species P. bangiana e P. insignis are restablished; P. autranii is redefinided as one variety and P. sinuata is proposed as a new synonym of P. laureola.
