Abstract: ObjectivesDetermine the stability of tibial and femoral components of 20 cementless knee arthroplasties with rotating platform.MethodsThe 20 patients (20 knees) underwent an analysis of dynamic radiographs with an image amplifier and maneuvers of varus and valgus which were compared to static frontal and lateral radiographs of the knees and analyzed by two experienced surgeons in a double-blind way.ResultsWe could observe in this study that both methods showed very similar results for the stability of the tibi… Show more

“…The particle sizes range from 1 to 100 micrometers under the electron microscope. Large parts do not cause osteolysis [153]. There is no osteolysis if the parts are not spread to the cancellous bone, so osteolysis is not seen when Complications after Total Knee Arthroplasty DOI: http://dx.doi.org /10.5772/intechopen.89818 the cancellous bone is properly covered with cement [154].…”

“…Total knee arthroplasty with a rotating platform has theoretical biomechanical advantages over a fixed-platform design. 5 These advantages include an improvement in kinematics by increasing the range of motion, facilitating axial rotation, better distribution of stress between the femoral and tibial components, and reduction in release forces at the implant interface with the bone. 6 7 8 Many variables can influence the frictional wear behavior of polyethylene, like the design of the prosthesis, the raw material used, and the surgical technique applied and the patient's morbidities, such as the activity level and body mass.…”
