This study aimed to evaluate the effects of concentrate supplementation containing different protein levels on estrous signs and progesterone profiles of two age groups of Ongole Grade cow. Thirty females cows were grouped according to their ages (G1= 25±1.6 months; G2= 37±1.7 months), where each group received 3 dietary treatments with 5 replicates. The dietary treatment was based on CP levels of total mixed ration (TMR) (T1= 7.41% CP; T2= 8.23% CP; and T3= 9.17% CP). The cows were synchronized using PGF2α and GnRH, followed by time-fixed artificial insemination (TAI) using frozen semen. Data on nutrient intake and progesterone concentration were subjected to a randomized complete block design of ANOVA following a factorial arrangement of 2×3 while data of estrous signs were analyzed using non-parametric methods of Kruskal-Wallis and independent t-test. The results showed that there was a significant interaction effect between age group and dietary TMR treatment on CP intake and TDN intake in which the highest intakes were found in older cows (G2) fed TMR at 7.41% CP (T1) (p<0.01). Dry matter intake (DMI) was not affected either by age group or level of concentrate supplementation. Results also suggested that estrous signs, including vulva redness, swollen vulva, and mucus discharge, were higher in older cows (G2) than in younger cows (G1). In addition, interactions were also found on progesterone levels, whereas younger cows (G1) fed TMR with 9.17% CP (T3) showed the highest concentration of progesterone on d 5, 17, and 21 (p<0.01). In conclusion, this study suggests that younger cows receiving the highest CP diet (T3) result in higher progesterone concentration during the experimental period. Therefore, it is important to fed sufficient dietary CP especially for cattle in early reproduction period to optimize the reproductive performance.

The investigation was expected to assess various mineral mixture supplementation impacts on Brahman crossbred cows' blood biochemical, hematological profiles and pregnancy rate. This study used ninety Brahman crossbred cows divided into three dietary treatment groups (n = 30/group). The dietary treatments were: Concentrate and rice straw only as control treatment; control diet + mineral mixture A-formulation as MM-A treatment; and control diet + mineral mixture B-formulation as MM-B treatment. The concentration of MM-B (including calcium, phosphor, cobalt, copper, sulphur, potassium, zinc, manganese, magnesium, sodium, selenium and iron) was higher than MM-A. The mineral mixture was added to 0.5 kg/100 kg of diet. The concentrate mix and rice straw were restricted to 3 kg and 20 kg/day (as-fed basis). Feeding treatment was conducted until four months. Blood sampling and estrous synchronization were carried out after three weeks of dietary treatments. The estrous synchronization aimed to equate the estrous cycle of each cow by using 25 mg prostaglandin F2α (Lutalyse™) (injection via intramuscular). Estrous signs were observed two days after synchronization. Artificial insemination was conducted at ten to twelve hours from estrous detection, inseminated with post-thawed frozen Belgian Blue bull sperm. Transrectal palpation was used to diagnose the cow's pregnancy 90 days after artificial insemination. The serum samples were analyzed for blood biochemical, hematology and mineral status. The results showed that MM-B supplementation significantly increased (p<0.05) serum calcium, phosphor, selenium and iron. There were no significant differences in serum glucose, total protein, albumin, cholesterol, triglyceride, creatinine, uric acid, blood urea nitrogen and hematological profile. The pregnancy rate in MM-B treatment was higher than MM-A and control treatment. The pregnancy rate in the MM-B treatment (20.7%) was higher than control (6.67%) and MM-A treatment (3.33%). It was concluded that mineral mixture supplementation improved the pregnancy rate and several blood components on Brahman Crossbred cows.

Artificial insemination (AI) is one of the appropriate techniques in increasing cattle productivity and to improve cow genetics. However, not all people are interested in implementing IB Technology. This study aims to explain how to increase the interest of the breeder community to apply artificial insemination technology. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The total sample of 33 respondents was taken by purposive sampling, namely farmers who have at least one calf produced by means of artificial insemination (IB) technology. The analysis used for knowledge and interest variables is descriptive analysis, regression analysis, and T-Test. From the research results obtained knowledge and interest are very influential in improving the application of artificial insemination (IB) technology. The contribution of increasing each variable is knowledge by 24.4% and interest by 48.8%. From these results, it can be concluded that the interest and knowledge of the farming community about artificial insemination technology is very influential or significant based on the results of the T-Test which shows that the substantial value in the attitude of farmers is (0.000) < (0.05).
