Estimation of Genetic Parameters of Different Wheat Genotype Traits in Chitwan, Nepal

Abstract: This research was carried out to estimate the genetic parameters of fifty wheat genotypes received from the Agriculture Botany Division, Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC), Khumaltar, Lalitpur, in the winter season of 2014/2015 at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), Chitwan, Nepal. The experiment was performed in an alpha lattice design with two replications in five blocks in each replication and ten plots in each block. The analysis of variance showed highly significant differences among the gen… Show more

“…Among the yield attributing traits, the PCV values were, in general, greater than the GCV, which reflects the influence of the environment in the expression of these evaluated characteristics. These findings were in agreement with those of Din et al (2018) and Regmi et al (2021).…”

“…GAM was found just intermediate in the FLA (15.22) and low in the remaining traits. The obtained results are consistent with those of Seyoum and Sisay (2021) for PH, Hossain et al (2021) for CT, Fellahi et al (2019) for heading date and FLA, Din et al (2018) for TKW, and Regmi et al (2021) for the number of fertile tillers and GY.…”

“…The analysis result confirmed the presence of significant (P<0.1) differences among the experimental material having the genetic variance of 23.9 and residual variance of 8.8 (Table 2). Results of [19,20] are in alliance with our study. Means for plant height of all wheat genotypes ranged from 91.5 (Pirsabak 15) to 113.5 (EBWL-41) (Fig.…”

“…Heritability was high (0.84) for plant height (Table 2) with response to selection of 8.1cm (Table 3). High heritability estimate was also stated by [20,21]. Negative selection differential (-15.88 cm) was estimated for said trait (Table 3) and it is favorable for taller genotypes as there is chances that in next breeding cycle the height will reduce to desirable range.…”
