Estimating energy levels of a three-level atom in single and multi-parameter metrological schemes

Abstract: Finding the energy levels of a quantum system is a significant task, for instance, to characterize the compatibility of materials or to analyze reaction rates in drug discovery and catalysis. In this paper we investigate quantum metrology, the research field focusing on the estimation of unknown parameters investigating quantum resources, to address this problem for a three-level system interacting with laser fields. The performance of simultaneous estimation of the levels compared to independent one is also … Show more

“…However, our work differs from the aforementioned reference in several aspects. First, we investigate the relationship between the collective behavior of an atomic ensemble and the specific behavior of its components, while [60] examines the behavior of a single three-level atom. Second, our paper focuses on the nonlinear response of the material to laser fields, while [60] focuses on the linear response.…”

“…Additionally, quantum super-resolution for resolving two incoherent point sources of light [ 11 , 49 , 50 ] and many estimation problems concerning Gaussian quantum states [ 51 , 52 , 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 , 57 , 58 ] can be cast as multiparameter estimation problems. Given this motivation, there has been significant experimental [ 59 , 60 , 61 , 62 , 63 ] and theoretical [ 64 , 65 , 66 , 67 , 68 , 69 , 70 , 71 , 72 , 73 , 74 , 75 , 76 , 77 , 78 , 79 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 , 85 ] interest in quantum multiparameter estimation. See Refs.…”
