Some species of Veneridae genera as Anomalocardia Schumacher, 1817 , Lirophora Conrad, 1863 , Chionopsis Olsson, 1932 , Lamelliconcha Dall, 1902 , Macrocallista Meek, 1876 , and Antigona Schumacher, 1817 , among others, have adult shells with a projected posterior end and elongated outlines.
