Eruptive Xanthoma in a Patient with Type V Hyperlipoproteinemia

Abstract: A case of type V hyperlipoproteinemia manifested by eruptive xanthoma and lipemia retinalis is described. The patient also had an accelerated ESR, leukocytosis and hyperhidrosis. His karyotype was found to be XXY, which is typical of Klinefelter’s syndrome. The possible relationship between type V hyperlipoproteinemia and Klinefelter’s syndrome is discussed.
