Objective: to analyze the effect on the knowledge of therapeutic communication by Nursing students through the use of applications. Method: a randomized and controlled clinical trial conducted with 60 nursing students. In the topic Groups and therapeutic communication techniques, the intervention-IG group (n=30) used the application and the control-CG group (n=30) was submitted to the traditional class. The pre- (Zero Test -0) and post-test knowledge (immediate-Test 1 and after 30 day-Test 2) of those involved were evaluated. Results: Test 1, performed immediately after the intervention, showed a mean of 11 hits in the control group and 13 in the intervention, with statistical significance (p=0.036). Test 2 showed a decrease in hits in both groups (IG=10.87 and CG=9.3), but maintained the difference between IG and CG in the post-test (p<0.01). Conclusion: the use of the application on therapeutic communication favored the knowledge of the students, when compared to the traditional teaching method. REBEC RBR-4TF6MR Registration.

Background and Purpose Workplace violence is a global phenomenon and violation of human rights affects the people's self-esteem and quality of work and causes inequality, discrimination, disorder, and conflict at work. The present study was carried out aiming at determining the workplace violence against the prehospital emergency medical technicians (PEMTs) in three provinces of Fars, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Bushehr, Iran. Materials and Methods This was a cross-sectional multicenter study in which 206 PEMTs from Fars, Bushehr, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces participated. Simple random sampling was used in this study. In order to collect data, a researcher-made tool was used. Descriptive statistics and SPSS® software version 22 were used to analyze the data. Results Among various types of workplace violence, the most frequent ones were verbal violence (78.1%), physical violence (60.3%), and cultural violence (31.7%), respectively. The most important factor in the occurrence of workplace violence was the lack of the awareness of people about the duties of the PEMTs. With regard to the handling of the violent situations, the results indicated that 61.6% of the personnel asked the attacker to calm down. 48.5% of PEMTs believed that violence was normal in their work. Conclusion Due to the high rate of workplace violence against PEMTs, it is suggested that methods such as formal training and retraining programs for the employees, general education with regard to the duties of the PEMTs, and socially supporting them should be used to reduce and control violence.

Objective to evaluate the frequencies attributed to the professional competences of hospital nurses, discussing the ones that obtained higher and lower frequencies.Method descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study with 45 nurses of a hospital of high complexity in the interior of São Paulo state. The study used the Competences Evaluation Questionnaire, translated and validated in Brazil, composed of 27 items in five domains: professionalism, communication, management, nursing process and problem solving. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.Results it was found that 80% of the participants were female and 20% were male. The age ranged between 25 and 63 years, with an average of 40.02 years, and the average length of professional experience was 13.39 years. The competences “Communication with the hospital’s administrative staff” and “Participation in scientific research and / or application of results” had the lowest frequencies, while “Commitment to punctuality and workload” and “Commitment to the ethical principles of the profession” were evaluated with the highest frequencies.Conclusion evaluating the performance by competences becomes essential for managers and training centers, since it contributes to the identification of gaps in knowledge, skills and attitudes of professionals, by promoting the elaboration and implementation of strategies for their development.
