As regards the level of protein-bound carbohydrates in patients with retinal microaneurysms (to which stage of angiopathy most of our patients belong) some authors have found increased values (2,10,12,18,24), but others glucoproteins as in uncomplicated diabetes (8,13,17,22). Many unknown relationships and points of obscurity remain to be investigated before the serum glucoprotein level can be correlated with diabetic angiopathy.…”
