Eratyrus mucronatus Stål, 1859 (Hemiptera: Reduviidae: Triatominae): first report in the State of Acre, Brazil, and updated geographic distribution in South America

Abstract

A new occurrence record of Eratyrus mucronatus (Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae) is reported from Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil. The distribution of this triatomine species was updated and a potential geographic distribution map in South America was presented based on ecological niche modeling.

First report of Rhodnius stali (Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae) in the State of Acre and in the Brazilian Amazon

First report of Rhodnius montenegrensis (Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae) in the State of Acre, Brazil

“…In the State of Acre, researchers have reported the occurrence of four species of triatomines, namely, Rhodnius robustus (7) , Rhodnius pictipes, Panstrongylus geniculatus (8) , and Eratyrus mucronatus (9) . However, some R. robustus specimens collected in Acre may have been erroneously described by some researchers (7) because of similarities with Rhodnius montenegrensis, which had not previously been shown to exist in this region.…”

Microtriatoma trinidadensis (Lent, 1951) (Hemiptera, Reduviidae, Triatominae): first record in the state of Amazonas, Brazil

“…Here we report the first record of this species in the state of Amazonas, within the Amazon region, Brazil, where in recent years there have been several new reports of other triatomine species (Ferreira and Souto 2013, Obara et al 2013, Meneguetti et al 2011, 2015, Terrasini et al 2017, Rosa et al 2017, Castro et al 2018. The occurrence of sylvatic species invading human dwellings is a major difficulty for vector surveillance programs and a challenge for understanding the magnitude of the risk of Trypanosoma cruzi transmission.…”
