Not government organizations (NGOs) work to advance organizational objectives through a sustainable agenda while having a beneficial influence on society and the environment. NGOs must thus hire creative personnel if they want to remain competitive and draw in investors. This study bases its model of innovative work behavior for women working in the top 100 NGOs in both developed and developing countries on the social exchange theory and hypothesizes that this behavior may be impacted by leadership support. In this context, the function of employee job engagement as a mediating element is studied. The reputation's moderating function was also examined. Eleven thousand nine-hundred and one female employees from 2737 NGOs in the top 100 developed and developing countries made up the sample.The findings demonstrate the direct and indirect effects that employee engagement, which is impacted by leadership support, has on innovative work behavior. A reliable connection between them is the organizational reputation of NGOs.

PurposeDigital entrepreneurship is the key to economic survival and the lantern of jobs in developing countries. The debate about the challenges facing early digital entrepreneurs (DEs) in developing countries is still ambiguous. This study attempts to fulfill the gap with an in-depth examination of Jordan.Design/methodology/approachReferring to a digital start-up database hosted by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan, the study interviews a random sample of (n = 45) early (less than one-year seniority) DEs. Thematic analysis is carried out facilitated by NVivo 20 software. E-Commerce, agriculture technology, data and artificial intelligence and entertainment were at the top of the interviewed start-ups.FindingsNine challenges were observed, critically analyzed and discussed. The challenges are (1) the lack of realistic funding in terms and guarantees; (2) the negligence of guidance and advisory of incubators and entrepreneurship centres; (3) the emergence of unexpected risks; (4) the stringent economic situation; (5) competition; (6) legal and legislative obstacles; (7) obstacles to accessing markets; (8) team management and finally (9) disorganization in the entrepreneurial environment. The study sets recommendations to support early DEs in their journey.Practical implicationsThis study highlights the significant implications for aspiring DEs by focusing on some challenges that might face their start-ups such as institutional, technology and local dimensions of context and measures to develop the entrepreneurial and digital competencies. This includes sustainable funding, poor direct guidance and advisory, unexpected failures/risks, and economic obstacles. This study might be considered a road map for the decision-makers to build their strategies for eliminating the main barriers for early DEs and start-ups.Originality/valueAlthough recent literature discussed the challenges of entrepreneurs in Jordan, this is the first that identifies early DEs’ challenges and uses 45% samples of the community.

This study investigates the digital economy's influence on entrepreneurship and the role of economic agglomeration in its mechanism. Employing yearly prefecture-level city data from China (2011-2019) and panel econometric techniques, we show that the digital economy has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurship activity; this effect is maintained following endogeneity, alternative explanatory variable, sample composition, and other robustness checks. Regional heterogeneity analysis shows that the digital economy's impact was greatest on the western region, followed by the central and eastern regions. We also identify agglomeration-related channels (output and employment density) through which the digital economy promotes entrepreneurship.
