“…In order to analyze the electrical potential distribution in the ODE chip during the hydrogel solidification process, an equivalent circuit as shown in Fig. 4(a) was proposed here [33], [34]. In the circuit, R a−Si:H and C a−Si:H denote the resistance and the capacitance of the a-Si:H, respectively.…”

“…Recently, we have proposed a simple physical model that allows the interpretation of impedance spectroscopy (IS) spectra for water splitting applications. 20 In this model, we have considered a monoenergetic level of surface states where both electron and holes can recombine or transfer from/to the solution.…”

“…However, for simplicity, the dynamics of holes are not included in Figure 3. For the interested reader, such calculations can be found in ref 20 for the technique of IS.…”

“…This interesting observation matches the outcome of an even more recently published study with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), where a suspected surface state derived from EIS [38] has the same dependence from the bias potential ( Figure 14, bottom right). During the compilation of this manuscript in late August 2012, we learnt about a new manuscript [39] which shows that EIS can detect even three new states on hematite. We can confirm this suggestion in as far as in our recent campaign at BL 7.0.1 in April 2012 we identified three pre-edge peaks in the hematite oxygen depending on the applied bias potential.…”
