Epoxide Opening versus Silica Condensation during Sol–Gel Hybrid Biomaterial Synthesis

Abstract: Hybrid organic-inorganic solids represent an important class of engineering materials, usually prepared by sol-gel processes by cross-reaction between organic and inorganic precursors.
