Experiences of Epidermolysis Bullosa 3 3 AbstractObjective: To explore the experiences of young people with Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex (EBS).Method: 11 participants aged 10 -14 years were interviewed. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was employed.Results: A key theme was 'self as different'. This related to experiences of negative treatment and exclusion from peers; a lack of understanding of others about the condition; and a sense of the self as 'wrong'. Conclusions:Findings indicate the importance of providing appropriate psychological and peer support, as well as wider community education and intervention, as part of the holistic treatment of young people with this chronic, painful and visible skin condition.

ÖzetEpidermolizis bülloza(EB), deri ve mukozaların frajilitesi ve küçük travmalarla bile bül oluşumu ile karakterize bir grup kalıtsal büllöz hastalığı içerir. Deri frajilitesi ve bül formasyonu epidermis, dermo-epidermal bileşke ve üst dermisde normalde de bulunan çok sayıda proteini kodlayan genlerde mutasyon sonucu oluşur. Epidermolizis bülloza simpleks (EBS), Junktional EB (JEB), distrofik EB ( Sum maryEpidermolysis bullosa (EB), refers to a group of inherited bullous disorders, characterized by fagility of the skin and mucous membranes, and blister formation in response to minor friction or trauma. Skin fragility and bulla formation of EB result from genetic mutations of any of dozen genes that encode structural proteins which normally reside within the epidermis, the dermo-epidermal juntion, or the upper dermis. Opieka stomatologiczna u osób dotkniętych rzadką chorobą genetyczną -pęcherzowym oddzielaniem się naskórka (Epidermolysis bullosa, EB) jest niejednokrotnie poważnym problemem. Choroba jest związana z wrażliwością skóry oraz błony śluzowej i manifestuje się tworzeniem bolesnych, trudno gojących się pęcherzy i owrzodzeń, samoistnie lub pod wpływem nawet niewielkiego urazu mechanicznego. Istotą choroby ze stomatologicznego punktu widzenia jest tendencja do pojawiania się zmian pęcherzowych w trakcie codziennej higienizacji jamy ustnej, a także podczas leczenia zębów. Cel pracy. Ocena stomatologicznych zachowań prozdrowotnych oraz potrzeb stomatologicznych u osób dotknię-tych chorobą Epidermolysis bullosa. Materiał i metody. Badaniem ankietowym objęto 32 osoby chore (12 mężczyzn, 20 kobiet). Kwestionariusz badania zawierał 20 pytań dotyczących postaw i zachowań związanych z higieną jamy ustnej, oceny dostępnych na rynku środków do higienizacji, regularności wizyt u stomatologa, stosowanej dotychczas profilaktyki stomatologicznej oraz samooceny uzębienia. Wyniki. Na podstawie analizy wyników badań stwierdzono, że tylko nieco ponad połowa (20 respondentów) szczotkuje zęby 2 razy dziennie, a 9 chorych wykonuje ten zabieg raz dziennie. Z całej grupy 20 ankietowanych nie oczyszcza języka po szczotkowaniu, a tylko co trzeci chory używa regularnie antybakteryjnych płukanek do jamy ustnej. Jedynie dla 5 badanych dostępne na rynku szczoteczki do zębów spełniają ich oczekiwania, a z zabiegu profesjonalnego oczyszczania zębów w gabinecie korzystało tylko 18 z 32 chorych. Wnioski. Istnieje konieczność zintensyfikowania działań zwiększających stomatologiczną świadomość prozdrowotną w celu poprawy funkcjonowania pierwszego odcinka przewodu pokarmowego, tj. jamy ustnej. Takie działa-nia pozwolą na lepsze odżywianie, a co za tym idzie poprawę zdrowia (Dent. Med.
