Enzymatic Characterization ofCorynespora cassiicolaIsolates Using theAPIZYM®System

Abstract: Corynespora cassiicola (Berk. & Curt.) Wei is an important phytopathogenic fungus, and different isolates show great diversity in their reproductive structures. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of the API‐ZYM® system as an auxiliary tool in the polyphasic approach of C. cassiicola identification. Five C. cassiicola isolates from different host plants and one Pseudocercospora griseola isolate were tested. A typical enzymatic pattern was obtained, with eight enzymes being produced b… Show more

“…Five discs (5 mm in diameter) containing the mycelia of each isolate were then transferred to the flask containing CP and HOP medium and incubated for 15 days at 25C under a 12‐h light/12‐h dark period (Howe and Jander ; Oliveira et al . ). The cultures were filtered through Whatman filter paper to obtain a filtrate free of fungal structures and sterilized using Millipore filters (pore size of 0.22 µm).…”
