Environmental Value and Pro-environmental Behavior Among Young Adults: The Mediating Role of Risk Perception and Moral Anger

Abstract: This study aims to identify the relationship between students’ environmental value (EV) and pro-environmental behavior (PEB) within a values-belief-norm framework. To conduct an empirical study, we used a sample of 558 online surveys and adopted the partial least squares path modeling method to test the relationships between variables in the conceptual model. The results indicate that EV positively predicted PEB among young adults. In addition, we highlight that risk perception (RP) and moral anger (MA) play c… Show more

“…The relationship between employees' PEB and CGIP is unpredictable in most cases, which could increase uncertainties about the effect of employees' PEB. Moreover, as far as the internal and external factors are concerned, the aforementioned relationship could be more complex and vary from stage to stage (Li et al, 2022 ). Therefore, companies might endeavor to effectively identify and evaluate different types of internal and external factors that could affect CGIP.…”

“…A recent study from China found that environmental values positively predicted pro-environment behaviour among young adults and highlighted that risk perception and moral anger play critical chain-mediating roles in the relationship of environmental values with pro-environment behaviour (Li et al ., 2022). In our study also, values explained the pro-environment waste management.…”

“…Moreover, people tend to underestimate the general concern about climate change (Sparkman et al, 2022 ). It is crucial to raise people's awareness of environmental issues and environmental risks (Li et al, 2022 ). While green influencers mostly attract followers who are interested in sustainability, non-green influencers can reach a wider, more heterogeneous audience.…”
