Based on documentary scientific methodology, the legal aspects of the circulation of cryptocurrencies in Ukraine and other countries of the world are analyzed. The relationship between the state's level of economic development and the level of its interest in cryptocurrencies is demonstrated. It was shown that almost all successful states can create and implement their own cryptocurrency. In addition, it was noted how important the issue of choosing the proper form of legal regulation of the cryptocurrency industry is today. For example, many researchers and experts have emphasized that a kind of compromise must be reached on issues related to the legal regulation of cryptocurrencies. It is therefore concluded that this applies to both the sphere of domestic and international law, where clarity, transparency and unambiguousness of legal norms must prevail. Regarding the latter, it is clarified that cryptocurrencies should no longer exist as a shadow source of income for unidentified individuals. Instead, they should be completely banned and eliminated in both the economic and legal fields, or they should be legalized and regulated by current legislation.

Indigenous peoples should be able to govern data about themselves, their territories, resources, and ways of life, collected by themselves or others. However, the progressive use of cloud computing for the geoweb raises data security and privacy concerns. We propose a complete and trustless approach for indigenous geospatial data sovereignty on the cloud by furnishing security functions at the core—the web browser. Geomasking permits sharing an anonymized dataset with less privileged users, while the original is protected and shared with sovereign data owners via public‐key encryption. The encrypted dataset's hash value is notarized on the blockchain for the verification of its authenticity when on the cloud. The application was designed for the protection of Biodiversity Management Areas stewarded by the Māori people in Aotearoa New Zealand. It enables diversified functions of geospatial data protection compared with previous works focusing on the cloud by solving data‐sharing problems without relying on a third party.

Identity Management System (IDMS) refers to how users or individuals are identified and authorized to use organizational systems and services. Since traditional identity management and authentication systems rely heavily on a trusted central authority, they cannot mitigate the effects of single points of failure. As a decentralized and distributed public ledger in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network, Blockchain (BC) technology has garnered a considerable amount of attention in the field of IDMS in recent years. Through Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), users can have full authority over their digital identity. Successful implementation of a BC-based IDMS can significantly increase the degree of privacy and security of a user's SSI. However, the integration of BC-based IMDS to provide a user with SSI is still an unorganized area of research in its early stages of development. This article presents an extensive literature review of state-of-the-art academic publications as well as commercial market offerings regarding the applicability of BC-based SSI solutions. It also provides a detailed preliminary regarding the building blocks of blockchain technology and a progressive roadmap of IDMS solutions. In order to develop an effective BC-based IDMS solution that focuses on securing a user's SSI, this article outline five essential components of a BC-based IDMS: authentication, integrity, privacy, trust, and simplicity. Furthermore, we perform a security analysis that outlines several types of adversarial threats that can cause potential damage to the BC-based IDMS. We identify and discuss associated issues and challenges by analyzing several notable BC-based IDMS solutions in academic literature.
