Entangling Relation of Micro RNA-let7, miRNA-200 and miRNA-125 with Various Cancers

Abstract: Involvement of micro RNAs (miRNA) is currently the focus for cancer studies as they effect the post transcriptional expression of different genes. Let-7 family is among the firstly discovered miRNAs that play important role in cell proliferation and dysregulation leading to cell based diseases including cancer. Another family, miRNA-200 prevents transformation of cell to malignant form and tumor formation by interacting with epidermal mesenchymal transition (EMT). Similarly miRNA-125 controls apoptosis and pro… Show more

“…Peng et al demonstrated that the let-7b microRNA expression was positively associated with patient age and severity of lens opacity [53]. The lncRNA XIST/let-7/TGF-β regulatory network might play a role in the pathogenesis of ARC [54][55][56]. LncRNA-MIAT is shown to be specifically up-regulated both in the plasma fraction of whole blood and aqueous humour of cataract patients.…”

“…It has been observed that the expression of let-7 family members is downregulated in many cancer types during tumor progression promoting cell cycle progression. A number of studies revealed in cancer patients significant let-7 family downregulation in renal cell, lung, bladder, colon, gastric, hepatocellular, breast, uterine and ovarian cancer 12 .…”

“…Along with the complementary roles of let-7 and miRNA-125 in inflammatory signaling, these miRNAs are also clustered together by their genomic location on the long arm of chromosome 21 (21q21.1) [113]. Let-7, miR-125b, and miR-200 are all involved in pathways of cancer progression, with miR-125b known to control apoptosis and cell proliferation [114]. Chang et al found that miR-125b directly binds to BMPR1B, a tumor suppressor of in ovarian cancer, and found single-nucleotide polymorphisms in this binding site that correlated with susceptibility to endometriosis [115].…”
