other hand, the helminthic endemic is detrimental to the health of sub-Saharan populations. With regard to the detrimental effect of helminths on infections (tuberculosis, human immunodeficiency virus, etc.), there is a lack of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) but helminths nevertheless reduce the efficacy of vaccinations. Therefore mass deworming should be continued. More RCTs are needed in order to assess the efficacy of helminthotherapy in IBD and rule out long-term untoward side effects. Molecules derived from helminths with immunomodulating properties are currently under investigation.
