“… Effect of E dep : In this series of measurements, an AAO membrane was held firmly in front of the Ti substrate. As shown elsewhere,23, 29, 30, 31 this led to the formation of an array of Pt nanowires on the surface of the substrate. All deposition parameters were kept constant (1 mM of Na 2 PtCl 6 ; 100 mM KCl; 10 mM HCl; T dep = 50 °C), except for the deposition potential, E dep , that was varied from ‐0.15, ‐0.35 and ‐0.45V for samples NW5, NW2 and NW4, respectively.…”

“…At present, to design and fabricate highly active Pt-based alloy electrocatalysts has been an important strategy by means of engineering the alloy composition, structure size, and morphology etc [6]. For instance, a variety of Pt alloy nanomaterials has been developed to enhance its MOR activity considering the alloy effect, such as PtCu nanoparticles [7], PtRu nanotubes [8], supported PtRu nanoparticles [9e11], PtAu [12] and PtPd [13] nanoparticles and so on. Recently, non-precious 3d transition metals (referring to the unfilled subshell electrons in the 3d-orbital), such as Fe, Co, and Ni, were found to have great synergistic catalytic effect on the MOR activity of Pt [13e16] besides their remarkably synergistic role on oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) [5].…”

“…PtCu alloy nanotube arrays were also fabricated by similar galvanostatic method and exhibited good stability and catalytic activity for ethanol oxidation in acidic medium [34]. Through electro-codeposition of Pt and Ru into a porous AAO membrane, PtRu nanotubes formed on Ti substrates were reported by Garbarino et al [35]. All deposits were performed in a potentiostatic mode at -0.05 V (vs. RHE) and with a constant deposition charge density of 40 C cm -2 .…”
