Enhanced PAPR in OFDM without Deteriorating BER Performance

Abstract: Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is vastly used in wireless networks. Its superiority relies on the fact that information can be split in large amount of frequencies. Each frequency is called information subcarrier. OFDM exhibits excellent annotation in channel fades and interferers as only a few subcarriers can be affected and consequently a small part of the original data stream can be lost. Orthogonality between frequencies ensures better spectrum management and obviates the danger of inter… Show more

“…When the timing error caused by the frequency offset is small (for the device with an expensive crystal oscillator), it needs to search just one of the PSS signals rather than two for the purpose of a quick search, low complexity, and compatibility. In addition, it can maintain the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) property of the original sequence xfalse[nfalse] without the need of PAPR reduction techniques [12,13,14,15]. …”

“…So, we concluded to design a system, which works well even under the use of a restricted number of feedbacks. The new PCCC scheme was designed for being part of an OFDM system with enhanced features [5,14]. Also, implementation in a DSP could be possible [15] along with other areas of applications such as fading channels and others [2].…”

“…However, the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of traditional OFDM signals can be bigger than 7 dB, which is a rough index for the high power amplifier (HPA). In radio frequency front end, the efficiency of HPA is degenerated with increasing PAPR of input signals [11][12][13]. The high PAPR value of OFDM signals will lead to the serious nonlinear distortion of HPAs [14][15][16].…”
