Enhanced luminescence performance of Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ blue long persistence phosphor by co-doping with Ce3+ ions

Abstract: A series of rare earth doped and co-doped distrontium magnesium di-silicate phosphors namely: Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Ce 3? , Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2? and Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2? , Ce 3? were prepared by the solid state reaction method. The crystal structures of sintered phosphors were an akermanite type structure which belongs to the tetragonal crystallography. The chemical compositions of sintered phosphors were confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Under the ultraviolet excitation, the emission spe… Show more

“…From Figure , it can be seen that ML intensity increases linearly with increasing impact velocity, i.e. the ML intensity of Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Ce 3+ , Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2+ and Ca 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2+ ,Ce 3+ phosphors is lineally proportional to the magnitude of the impact velocity, suggesting that these phosphors could also be used as sensors to detect stress in an object …”

“…Many studies have examined the optical properties of rare earth (RE) doped Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 , for example, RE 3+ in Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 : Eu 2+ , the RE ions include Ce 3+ [8], Er 3+ [9], Nd 3+ [10], Tb 3+ [11], La 3+ [12], et al Another example is RE 3+ in Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :…”

“…16b shows the lifetime decay at different temperatures, until the sample stops emitting; the times are shown in Table 10. Several thermoluminescence studies of the Sr2MgSi2O7 phase are reported in the literature [43]. Initially, the intensity increases with temperature until a maximum value is reached for a given temperature, and then decreases with a further increase in temperature.…”
