“…The preparation of mixed-matrix membranes from ulvan, crosslinkers, and inorganic fillers also should be explored. In-depth investigation is required to explore ulvan as a potential membrane in various separation processes, such as micro- and ultrafiltration, pervaporation, and gas separation [ 91 , 92 , 93 ].…”

“…11 15 Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) possess excellent chemical thermodynamic stability, corrosion resistance and semi-crystalline, solute molecules larger than 2∼20 nm can be screened out. 16 –18 However, some key shortcomings, such as membrane fouling, trade-off between permeability and selectivity, have limited the practical application of PVDF membranes. 19,20 In membrane separation, the selectivity is a measure of the ability of a membrane to separate the dyes, which is dependent on the pore size of the membrane.…”

“…To obtain the desirable attributes of a single composite, (i.e., flexibility, processability, high selectivity for polarizable/non-polar gas separation, and the mechanical strength and thermal stability of CNT) of Pebax-1657, the authors of results reported in References [ 92 , 97 , 100 ] used different techniques, such as solution casting method and solvent evaporation method, where they disperse the functionalized MWCNTs in solvents and then mix them with the polymeric base by ultrasonic technique. For example, Reference [ 101 ] prepared MMMs by using the solution-casting method and solvent evaporation method. Pebax pellets (0.8 g) were dissolved in the ethanol-and-water mixed solvent (12 mL, mass ratio of 7:3), with stirring at 80 °C for 4 h. The MWCNTs–ZIF-8 were added into another ethanol-and-water mixed solvent (11.5 mL, mass ratio of 7:3) with ultra-sonication and stirring.…”
