Enhanced Frequency Adaptive Demodulation Technique for Grid-Connected Converters

Abstract: This paper presents an enhanced frequency adaptive demodulation technique for grid-synchronization of grid-connected converters (GCC) in variable frequency condition. Demodulation works by generating demodulated voltages which contain undesired double frequency components. As a result, high-order low-pass filters (LPF) with high cutoff frequency are required to eliminate the undesired components. This reduces the dynamic performance. Frequency adaptive demodulation technique enhances the dynamic performance by… Show more

“…As we can conclude from the result of Theorem 5, the implicitly discretized version (9) of the algorithm (3) recovers all properties stated in Theorem 1 and Corollary 2. For example, the condition (5) can be written in discrete time as +∞ j=k 0 ϕ 2 (j) = +∞, which definitely implies (11). The noise gain multiplier √ γi is also presented in both theorems, 1 and 5, and an arbitrary increase of the estimation error convergence rate can be obtained by augmentation of the value of γi.…”

“…Several estimators are available in the literature due to the importance of the harmonic signal parameter estimation problem. Some of the existing continuous-time techniques are: adaptive observer [9], algebraic estimator [10], demodulation [11], adaptive notch filter (ANF) [12], second-order generalized integrator frequencylocked loop (SOGI-FLL) [13], enhanced phase-locked loop [14]. Many of these techniques have local stability properties.…”

“…Renewable energy sources (RES) such as solar photovoltaics (PV) will play a vital role in achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. RES are connected to the existing alternating current (AC) grid through a voltage source inverter (VSI) [43,44,45]. An efficient operation of the RES-interfaced VSI can only be guaranteed when the output of the VSI matches in-phase with the grid voltage signal.…”

“…Electric power grid decarbonization is going to play a significant role in combating the adverse effect of climate change. Renewable energy sources (RES) are a key player in this regard [1]- [5]. However, RES are variable and depends on weather conditions.…”
