recebido em 24 de novembro de 2017 aprovado em 13 de março de 2018 Resumo: Este estudo propõe um modelo teórico por meio da identificação dos relacionamentos entre as dimensões experiência empreendedora, incerteza ambiental, e tomada de decisão, com o objetivo de explicar a influência dos antecedentes da tomada de decisão na criação de startups na perspectiva empreendedora de jovens estudantes universitários. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio da análise fatorial exploratória e pela regressão linear múltipla. A pesquisa foi do tipo survey constituído por uma amostra de 389 questionários válidos, utilizando um instrumento de coleta estruturado com 23 assertivas desenvolvidas com base na literatura. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que as duas hipóteses do modelo foram validadas, ou seja, identificou-se que a Experiência Empreendedora (p<0,001) e a Incerteza Ambiental (p=0,028) afetam positivamente a Tomada de Decisão na criação de Startups. Portanto, este estudo contribui para o desenvolvimento de uma escala que auxilia a identificar os principais desafios que os jovens empreendedores enfrentam ao se inserirem no mercado de startups, entre eles: cenários futuros e vantagem competitiva diante dos concorrentes que são caracterizados por rápida expansão e grandes riscos e incertezas. He was the seventh person in the U.S. to receive a Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Purdue University. He is active in engineering within K-12, serving on the JETS Board of Directors and 10 years on the IEEE-USA Precollege Education Committee. He co-developed "The Tsunami Model Eliciting Activity" which was awarded Best Middle School Curriculum by the Engineering Education Service Center in 2009, and was named the Herbert F. Alter Chair of Engineering in 2010. His research interests include success in first-year engineering, introducing entrepreneurship into engineering and engineering in K-12.

Entrepreneurial Intention before and during COVID-19—A Case Study on Portuguese University Students

The present research aims to compare the entrepreneurial intention of university students before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. For this purpose, some dimensions were analyzed, such as the availability of this target audience to undertake an activity at their own risk, the preference for a future while employed by others, their perception of the values that society places on entrepreneurship, and the entrepreneurial abilities/skillsets. A comparative study of a quantitative nature was used, associating two samples composed of students of higher education in Portugal, the data were obtained before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of the results permits us to conclude: (1) in the circumstances of macroeconomic changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurial activity does not decrease; (2) respondents are less interested in being employed by others and more attracted to being entrepreneurs; (3) there is a growing concordance with the values that society places on entrepreneurship; and (4) there is now a greater aptitude for entrepreneurial activity. The present research is original, as it compares data obtained in different contexts of economic and social stability. It contributes to theory and practice, in the sense that it points to conclusions in the opposite direction of other studies carried out in situations of disasters of another nature, and can serve as a reference for the development of strategies to promote entrepreneurship, within higher education institutions and official entities to publicize and promote new public policies.
