Energy Efficiency in Industry 4.0: The Case of Batch Production Processes

Abstract: We derived a promising approach to reducing the energy consumption necessary in manufacturing processes from the combination of management methodologies and Industry 4.0 technologies. Based on a literature review and experts’ opinions, this work contributes to the efficient use of energy in batch production processes combining the analysis of the overall equipment effectiveness with the study of variables managed by cyber-physical production systems. Starting from the analysis of loss cause identification, we … Show more

“…As indicated by Norton et al [20] and Banwo and Du [24], there is a lack of research linking intrinsic employee motivation, organizational culture, and proenvironmental practices in the workplace. The literature on energy conservation in manufacturing primarily focuses on manufacturing technologies [34,35] and energy efficiency processes [36,37], and less on the roles of employees in developing green workplace practices. To address this research gap, our study examines the roles of organizational culture in promoting green behavior.…”

“…Unstable pricing policy in the provision of energy resources leads to the actualization of the issue of energy-effective use of thermal energy. The introduction of energy-saving measures is the main direction of reducing the cost of maintaining premises and buildings [1,2]. In order to enhance the energy efficiency, many enterprises conduct an energy audit, through which the real situation with energy supply and the energy consumption is determined [3,4].…”
