“…Supporting our findings, Gobrial et al [15], demonstrated that endocan levels in serum and lesional skin showed statistically significant higher value in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and showed positive correlation with PASI score. They also reported that endocan levels in serum and tissue were significantly higher in patients with moderate to severe psoriasis than in those with mild disease.…”

“…But, in the control cases, endocan was expressed in 30% of cases in epidermis only with mild intensity and focal pattern. In agreement with our results, Gobrial et al 12 reported that endocan in lesional skin showed statistically significant higher value in psoriatic patients compared with control. Supporting our findings, Balta et al, 13 Farag et al, 14 Sabry et al, 15 and Elgarib et al, 16 reported that serum level of endocan in psoriatic patients was higher than that of the control group.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, we are the second study to evaluate endocan expression in lesional skin of psoriasis after Gobrial et al 12 who studied the tissue lesional level of endocan in psoriasis by using sandwich enzyme immunoassay (enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay) technique. The current study reported upregulation of endocan in the involved psoriatic skin (63.9% in epidermis and 36.1% in dermis) and absence of its expression in epidermis and dermis of the uninvolved skin biopsies.…”

“…It seems that endocan plays a role in the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis, since the levels of endocan in serum and lesional skin biopsies were significantly higher in the psoriatic group compared to the control group. It is plausible that endocan plays a role in the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis and contributes additional to the severity of the disease since blood and tissue endocan levels were much higher in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis compared to those with mild disease [34].…”
