Enantioseparations in nonaqueous capillary liquid chromatography and capillary electrochromatography using cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) as chiral stationary phase

Abstract: The potential of the widely used chiral stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) enantioseparations, cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) (CDMPC, sold under the trade name Chiralcel OD) was evaluated under the conditions of nonaqueous capillary electrochromatography (CEC). The effect of the particle size of the silica gel, the loading of CDMPC on the silica gel and nature of the organic solvent, as well as electrolyte salts on the separation characteristics were investigated. “…The previous reports of CEC enantioseparations on this kind of coated CSPs were performed under the mobile phases of acetonitrile-water or pure methanol and ethanol systems [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. However, the typical mobile phase used for enantioseparations on polysaccharide derivative CSPs is the hexane-alcohol system according to the knowledge in HPLC [8].…”

“…Recently, polysaccharide derivatives were also applied as CSPs for CEC separation of enantiomers based on the open tubular and packed capillary columns [9][10][11][12]. For instance, capillary columns packed with cellulose tri (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) and cellulose tri(3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate) coated CSPs have been used for resolution of enantiomers by Chankvetadze et al [13][14][15][16][17], and the effect of the pore size of silica gel and the mobile phase composition on enantioseparations was systematically investigated. The previous studies on CEC resolution of enantiomers were mainly concentrated on the coated type of polysaccharide derivative CSPs.…”
