Enantioseparation of Neutral Compounds on a Quinine Carbamate-Immobilized Zirconia in Reversed-Phase Capillary Electrochromatography

Abstract: Quinine (QN) is a weak anion-exchange type chiral selector and QN-based silica stationary phases have been widely used for enantioseparation of acidic chiral analytes in HPLC and recently in CEC. In this work we report enantioseparation of non-acidic chiral analytes on a quinine carbamate-immobilized zirconia (QNZ) in reversed-phase (RP) CEC. Influences of pH, composition of the buffer, acetonitrile content and the applied voltage on enantioseparation were examined. Enantiomers of the analytes investigated are… Show more

“…The separation of two neutral substances on immobilized quinine carbamate zirconia particles was reported in [41]. The selector was immobilized on the silica particles through the synthesis of quinine 3-triethoxysilylpropylcarbamate and subsequent bonding onto the particles.…”

“…26,29 A number of zirconia-based CSPs have been evaluated in HPLC [30][31][32][33][34] and CEC. [35][36][37] Recently zirconia-based CSPs coated with cellulose derivatives have been used in HPLC 30,31,38,39 and CEC in particle-packed 35 and monolithic columns. 37 We recently reported chiral separation of basic compounds by CEC on cellulose 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate (CDMPC)-coated zirconia monolith (ZM) column in mobile phases of acidic 37,40 and basic pH.…”
