Empowering professionalism in mission-oriented innovation

Abstract: In the literature on mission-oriented innovation supply side and tech-oriented approaches have been complemented by broader and more inclusive societal approaches. Here, it is highlighted that both directionality and broad anchoring of diverse stakeholders across private, public, and civic domains are key to successful implementation. Still, it is unclear how these dimensions relate and unfold in practice. Using digital literacy in education as an example of mission-oriented innovation, this paper investigates… Show more

“… is the spatial overlap of innovation output and water pollution. The smaller the spatial distance between the center of technological innovation and the center of water pollution, the higher the spatial overlap and the stronger the coupling, and vice versa [ 77 , 78 , 79 ]. The innovation gravity center includes the innovation input gravity center and the innovation output gravity center, which are represented by ( x E , y E ) and ( x F , y F ), respectively, while the coordinates of the water pollution gravity center are represented by ( x P , y P ).…”

“…In addition, some scholars have also studied green management innovation independently [ 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 ]. At this time, green production technology innovation mainly includes the innovation of green product design, green materials, green process, green equipment, green recycling and treatment, green packaging and other technologies; green production management innovation includes the formulation of green enterprise management mechanism, green cost management innovation, the adoption of advanced production methods, the establishment of green marketing mechanism, the establishment of green networked supply chain and the establishment of environmental evaluation and management system [ 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 ].…”

“…The normative aspects of setting direction draw attention to the role OF political struggles, contestations and uncertainty in innovation (Schlaile et al 2017). Within this context the notion of mission-oriented innovation policy (MOIP) has been revitalized and extended as researchers try to capture the diverse nature of challenges and possible solutions (Mazzucato 2018;Kattel and Mazzucato 2018;Diercks, Larsen, and Steward 2019;Wanzenböck et al 2020;Janssen et al 2021;Bugge and Siddiq 2021).…”
