“…Thus it appears that, even at the 3rd-grade level, children's sociometric ratings of each other relate moderately well to the teacher's evaluation of their behavior. The present data are consistent with those of other investigators, e.g., Bower & Holmes (1959) and Zax et al (1964), and support Glidewell & Swallows' (1968) reported average correlation of .47 between peer and teacher ratings. The individual child's self-perceptions, however, are less consistent across measures, suggesting that young children offer a somewhat independent, personal view of their situation in comparison with those of teachers or peers.…”
