“…Differences among the absolute values of expansion coefficients are small, therefore a condition for the unambiguous classification was used, i. e. not to attribute the same LSJ state to two levels in all calculated spectrum. Indicating by level energies in the current (and Table 2 [20] the observed energy of 13.174 eV was assigned to the 5d( 3 P)6s 4 P 5/2 state, which is very close to the calculated energy of 13.127 eV in the present work (13.149 eV in [12]).…”

“…Using a very short (0.6 cm) plasma in the same cell, we were unable to observe 96.9-nm radiation, and estimate that its intensity was at least a factor of 40 smaller than the 90.1-nm Csll resonance line, a factor of 60 smaller than the 63.8-nm Cslll resonance line, and a factor of 40 smaller than the 87.5-nm Cs iv resonance line, all of which we observed. Emission at 96.9 nm may have been observed from a discharge in earlier work 16 Several experiments were performed to test the importance of synchronous traveling-wave pumping and of short-pulse excitation. The grating angle and target angle of incidence were changed to produce a groupvelocity lead for the traveling excitation of 10 ps/cm of target length.…”

“…It is well known that the highest quartet level of the highest J of a given configuration in an alkali metal atom is metastable against both autoionization and radiation in the XUV spectral region. 13 The properties of XUV emission from multiply charged alkali metal ions have not been investigated in detail. The generation of discharge-pumped XUV sources, however, requires the presence of a substantial density of high purity metal vapor in a capillary.…”
