Classification of the 5p5nln'l' LSJ energy levels of Cs excited by 30 eV electrons

Abstract: Theoretical investigation of the 5p5 nl(L1S1)n'l' LSJ autoionizing states of Cs was performed by using large scale configuration interaction calculations of energy levels, autoionization probabilities and excitation cross sections obtained in the Dirac–Fock–Slater approximation. Classification of calculated energy levels in the LSJ coupling scheme of angular momenta and simulation of the intensities of ejected Auger electron spectrum were performed. The classified energy levels in the region from the excitatio… Show more

“…they are 13.74, 5.42 and 5.79 Mb, respectively. The same correlation was observed for experimental lines 11-16 [4] which were identified as 4d( 1 F)5s 2 F 5/2 , 4d 2 ( 3 F) 2 F 5/2 , 4d 2 ( 1 D) 2 (23) in [4] correlate well with the cross sections of 4d( 1 F)5s 2 D 7/2 (1.73 Mb), 4d 2 ( 1 D) 2 P 1/2 (11.88 Mb), 4d 2 (1D) 2 D 3/2 (3.64 Mb) and 4d 2 ( 1 D) 2 D 5/2 (2.59 Mb), respectively. The calculated cross sections are much smaller for the levels starting from the level with 25.575 eV energy compared to the previous ones.…”

“…For the levels presented in Table 1, the expansion coefficient in the LSJ coupling scheme used for the classification was larger than the one in the jjJ coupling scheme. Several exceptions were noticed in the case of the levels with energy 22.750, 23 .501 eV, the expansion coefficient c was much larger in the jjJ coupling scheme than in the LSJ one. For these levels, they were 0.56 and 0.25, 0.58 and 0.41, 0.44 and 0.29, 0.39 and 0.29, 0.63 and 0.43 for the jjJ and LSJ coupling schemes, respectively.…”
