Emergency Communications Based on Throughput-Aware D2D Multicasting in 5G Public Safety Networks

Abstract: Emergency communications need to meet the developing demand of equipment and the complex scenarios of network in public safety networks (PSNs). Heterogeneous Cloud Radio Access Network (H-CRAN), an important technology of the 5th generation wireless systems (5G), plays an important role in PSN. H-CRAN has the features of resource sharing and centralized allocation which can make up for resource shortage in emergency communications. Therefore, an emergency communications strategy based on Device-to-device (D2D)… Show more

“…In this study, we found that not only CTG, but also images during ultrasound examinations and high-quality videos of people who mimicked patients could be transmitted without problems. Although our study was performed in a laboratory, and the distance between the transmitter and receiver was not far, recent planning of information technology infrastructure on 5G transmission promises better linkage of devices under both low or high power [ 5 ]. In the field of emergency medicine, doctors and paramedics have already started attempting to make accurate diagnoses by using smartphones to take videos, through which consultants at a central hospital can assess the situation in real time [ 6 ].…”

“…Since D2D communications allow close UEs to communicate without a base station, this approach may ensure high-speed data transmission and stable, continuous real-time communications. Therefore, In reference [15], the authors suggested a D2D multicast emergency communications technique to make PSN more flexible. This technique is divided into three steps.…”
