Embedded Silver Ions-Containing Liposomes in Polyelectrolyte Multilayers: Cargos Films for Antibacterial Agents

Abstract: A new antibacterial coating made of poly(L-lysine)/hyaluronic acid (PLL/HA) multilayer films and liposome aggregates loaded with silver ions was designed. Liposomes filled with an AgNO 3 solution were first aggregated by the addition of PLL in solution. The obtained micrometer-sized aggregates were then deposited on a PLL/HA multilayer film, playing the role of a spacer with the support. Finally, HA/PLL/HA capping layers were deposited on top of the architecture to form a composite AgNO 3 coating. Release of e… Show more

“…Additionally, an antibacterial coating made of poly( l ‐lysine)/hyaluronic acid multilayer films and liposomes loaded with Ag + was also explored 34. The strong antibacterial effect was attributed to the diffusion of Ag + from the AgNO 3 coating, which resulted in Ag + aggregation around the membranes of bacteria.…”

“…356 Liposomes were also used to trap silver within a polymer coating. In fact, Malcher and co-workers 357 could make an antimicrobial composite containing liposomes filled with silver nitrate using a sonication technique. They first filled the liposomes with silver nitrate solution, and then, with the help of poly(L-lysine) (PLL), they forced these liposomes to aggregate.…”

“…Gold nanoparticles (AuNP), silver nanoparticles and liposomes have been previously deposited onto such films. [32][33][34][35][36] It was observed, that nanoparticles are located at the surface of films. [34] Here we report that the film stiffness depends on the concentration of nanoparticles.…”
