“…Several survey studies regarding the levels of contamination of AFM 1 in dairy products have been recently reported. Most of them have been carried out in the Middle East or in Asia (Amer & Ibrahim, 2010;Dashti et al, 2009;Fallah, Jafari, Fallah, & Rahnama, 2009;Kim et al, 2000;Lin, Liu, Fu, & Shih, 2004;Maqbool, Anwar-Ul-Haq, & Ahmad, 2009;Tekinsen and Eken, 2008), with the exception of some studies carried out in Brazil (Oliveira, Franco, Rosim, & Fernandes, 2011) and in some regions of Italy (Montagna, Napoli, De Giglio, Iatta, & Barbuti, 2008;Virdis, Corgiolu, Scarano, Pilo, & De Santis, 2008). These studies demonstrate that AFM 1 is frequently found in cheeses, with a significant incidence of highly contaminated samples.…”
