Elevage en Masse, Cueillette Et Epandage Sur Le Terrain Des Pucerons (Aphidae) Vecteurs Du Virus Du Nanisme Jaune De L’orge (Bydv)

“…The 1982 virus mixture was somewhat more severe than the one used in previous years . The aphid and virus rearing and field-spreading methods were carried out as described in a previous work (COMEAU, 1976) . Pots were prepared for seeding outdoors by filling the bottom two-thirds of the pot with the native loam, and the top part with a 1 :1 mixture of native loam and Readi-Earth, a commercial mixture of vermiculite, peat and soil .…”

“…Many methods have been developed for culturing aphids in the laboratory either in large numbers on growing plants (e.g. Mackauer & Bisdee, 1965;Comeau, 1976;Woolcock, 1989), or individually or in small groups on seedlings or excised leaves (e.g. Noble, 1958;Markkula & Rautap~t~, 1963;Fraval, 1968;Blackman, 1971;Di Pietro & Dedryver, 1986;Ridland et al, 1988).…”
