Electrospinning of polymeric nanofiber (nylon 6,6/graphene oxide) for removal of Cr (VI): synthesis and adsorption studies

Abstract: Polymer nanofibers are valuable materials that are of great importance because they are inexpensive and they display high strength. In this study, nylon-6,6 (N6,6)/graphene oxide (GO) nanofibers were developed and characterized. GO was synthesized from graphene using the known Hummer's method. GO is obtained by reaction of the graphene with strong oxidants and was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The characterizations showed that the gr… Show more

“…Electrospinning is performed when the electric force of the mother liquid surface exceeds the surface tension and initiates an electric spark provoking the solution to be ejected from a syringe, and as jet flows the nanofiber is produced. Graphene gained significant interests for electrospinning researchers, for its high strength, flexibility, optical transparency, and conductivity (Javed et al, 2019;Parlayıcı et al, 2019). Electrospinning fibers have been also used for muscle cells growth in several recent papers.…”

“…Chromium is extensively applied in various fields, including steel works (Gomez et al 2006;Parlayici, et al 2019), electroplating, tanning industry, and chemical industries. This extensive use has resulted in environmental pollution (Shuang et al 2017;Wei, et al 2014).…”

“…In addition, the large amount of gas containing different pollution particles emitted from factories may not be treated effectively, while fine particles could also cause serious damage to the lungs and health of humans [72,[126][127][128]. Al-Attabi et al [82] explored the aperture and distribution for spinning fiber, which could filter tiny particles in the air.…”
