Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution: New Insights into an Old Class of Reactions

Abstract: The classic SEAr mechanism of electrophilic aromatic substitution (EAS) reactions described in textbooks, monographs, and reviews comprises the obligatory formation of arenium ion intermediates (σ complexes) in a two-stage process.
