Electronic and Optoelectronic Applications Based on ReS2

Abstract: With continuous research into two‐dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), a great number of high‐performance devices are emerging due to the unique structures and versatile properties of TMDs. As a representative of the group‐VII TMDs, rhenium disulfide (ReS2) has attracted increasing attention because the distorted octahedral crystal structure makes it distinctive from more widely known TMDs members, such as MoS2 and WSe2. It features layer‐independent electrical and anisotropic optical propertie… Show more

“…Vanadium diselenide (VSe 2 ), in the family of transition‐metal dichalcogenides, is triggering the interest of the scientific community due to several recent discoveries, including in‐plane piezoelectricity, a pseudogap with Fermi arc at temperatures above the charge‐density‐wave (CDW) transition temperature (≈220 K in the monolayer), and, especially, the emergence of room‐temperature ferromagnetism …”

“…Few-layered ReS 2 had shown a reasonable photo-response, stimulating a panoply of applications in photodetectors [2][3][4], phototransistors [5], logic circuits [6][7][8], photocatalysis [9,10], and so on. ReS 2 differs from the common TMDC systems by virtue of its strongly anisotropic polarization-dependent optical [11][12][13][14][15][16], excitonic [17][18][19][20], and thermal responses [2,[21][22][23], originating from its lower intra-plane symmetries in the distorted 1T structural format.…”

“…Atomically thin 2D‐layered TMDs with sandwich lattice structure such as ReS 2 and ReSe 2 have been studied extensively in recent years due to their intriguing physical properties and promising applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices. [ 2,63,95 ] Figure 4d shows the Raman spectrum of angle‐dependent of mode V (411 cm −1 ) in the 4L ReS 2 with different angles at 532 nm excitation wavelength on Si/SiO 2 substrates. The black, red, and blue lines represent the Raman intensity of unpolarized, parallel‐polarized, and cross‐polarized, respectively.…”
