Abstract:The structure of internal glands in the rhizomes of Dryopteris assirnilis S. WALKER is investigated by electron microscopy. The anthelmintically active phloroglucinol derivatives are biosynthesized in the glandular cytoplast and subsequently excreted through the plasmalemma and the cell wall to be accumulated under the cuticle as constituents of a subcuticular excretion layer. Some of the final reaction steps in the biosythesis of these compounds are possibly associated with the excretion process.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
