“…Highly toughened ZrO 2 ‐based ceramics (Al 2 O 3 ‐ZrO 2 nanocomposite) are required for industrial coating applications. Techniques such as suspension plasma spray, atmospheric plasma spray (60:40 wt%), electron beam physical vapor deposition (85:15 mol%), gas tunnel plasma spray (80:20, 50:50, 20:80 wt%), and sol–gel deposition with atomic ratios of 7:93, 10:90, 30:70, and 38:62 are used for the preparation of Al 2 O 3 ‐ZrO 2 composite coating on the metallic substrate . Among different compositions, an improved microstructure performance of the composite is achieved when Al 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 contents are in the range of 40–90% and 10–60%, respectively.…”
