Electromagnetic field generated by a wireless energy transfer system: comparison of simulation to measurement

Abstract: This paper presents a wireless energy transfer system operating at the frequency values of kHz order: modeling, simulation, and comparison with prototype measurement results. Wireless energy transfer system model using finite element method was carried out to simulate the electric field and the magnetic flux density for different air gap sizes between the transmitter and the receiver coils. Results are presented and compared with the electromagnetic emission measurements radiated by the wireless energy transfe… Show more

“…where θ = [0, π], M max is maximal mutual inductance between the two coils and can be computed by (15) in which µ is air permeability, N 1 and R 1 are the number of turns and radius of the transmitting coil, N 2 and R 2 are the number of turns and radius of the receiving coil, respectively, and d s1 is the distance between the centers of the two coils given by [33]:…”

“…At high frequency, electromagnetic interferences (EMI) become an important issue where the high-intensity EMF can have a harmful impact not only on the surrounding equipment and the exchange of the data between the transceivers but also on the human safety. In fact, to figure out the range of interference generated by WPT equipment, serval studies are proposed [12][13][14][15]. Firstly, a study related to the electromagnetic emissions from WPT effects are discussed in [12,13].…”

“…The WET at mid-range distances is carried through the air and based on the magnetic field. Therefore, the study of the magnetic field created by different types of coils is very important [17,18]. In this case study the comparison of the magnetic field originated by a planar coil and by a circular coil is made.…”
