“…TiC 1-x O x (xo1) powders were synthesized by the solid-state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of TiC and TiO (99.99%, Aladdin). 30 As-synthesized TiC 1-x O x powders (5 g) with 1 ml of deionized water were pressed into 20-mm-diameter bulks under a pressure of 5 MPa and then annealed for 3 h at 1073 K in a tubular resistance furnace under argon atmosphere to obtain porous pellets. The core-shell TiC 1-x O x @TiO y (xo1, 1oyo2) heterostructure materials were prepared using a facile anodization process, where the as-annealed porous pellets were used as the anode, a silver disk was used as the cathode and 0.01 wt.% phosphoric acid solution was used as the electrolyte solution.…”

“…26 To overcome this drawback, TiC 1-x O x solid solutions with high electrical conductivity and good thermal stability were applied as TE materials. [30][31][32] Therefore, TiC 1-x O x solid solutions are promising candidates as TE materials in the heat-to-electricity conversion field.…”

“…Earlier work in industry and academia had shown that processes using an electronically conducting Ti oxycarbide anode might be feasible [65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75] . Oxycarbide of approximate composition Ti 2 CO can readily be prepared by reacting TiO 2 with carbon at elevated temperatures in inert atmosphere, and then be used as the anode in a high temperature electrolytic cell with a molten chloride electrolyte.…”

“…During electrolysis, low-valence titanium ions dissolve into the melt and are deposited as titanium at the cathode. [6][7][8][9][10] Efficiency and product quality are significantly increased in this process compared to those of the FFC process; however further studies are required for the large-scale preparation of anode materials and industrial scale-up.…”
