Electrochemical sensor formed from poly(3,4-ethylenedioxyselenophene) and nitrogen-doped graphene composite for dopamine detection

Abstract: An electrochemical sensor for dopamine detection has been fabricated using a composite of PEDOS and N-Gr. The results of actual samples showed that the composite of PEDOS/N-Gr has excellent recovery (95.40–100.14%) for human serum and urine samples.

“…The stretching vibrations of ethylene oxide at 1180, 1049, and 1288 cm −1 contribute to the C-O-C stretching vibration. The characteristic peaks at 1301 and 1501 cm −1 are attributed to the stretching vibrations of C=C and C-C on the selenophene ring in the PEDOS [ 25 ].…”

“…Moreover, humans have not shown any inflammation when exposed to PEDOT; [101] therefore, PEDOTbased compounds have been widely applied for detecting biomolecules and many other electrochemically active species, such as antioxidants and medicines (Table 6). [112][113][114][115][116][117][118][119][120][121][122][123][124] Meng et al [112] proposed a composite based on GQDs and PEDOT for detecting rutin, which is a component in herbal medicines used for treating cardiovascular diseases. GQDs were obtained using a bottom-up method employing citric acid as organic precursor in the presence of NaOH.…”

“…Reproducibility of the sensor has been proven by the obtained 2.69% percentage of the relative standard deviation (RSD) of DA currently obtained with six independent NG/PEDOT/GCEs under the same conditions. Another group investigated the association of graphene with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxyselenophene) (PEDOS) and nitrogen-doped graphene (N-Gr) and compared the PEDOS/N-Gr composite with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)/nitrogen-doped graphene (PEDOT/N-Gr) for dopamine detection [71]. They showed that the composite formed with PEDOS has an enhanced analytical performance compared to the PEDOT composite.…”
