Electrochemical Sensor for Detection and Degradation Studies of Ethyl Violet Dye

Abstract: In this work, a simple and sensitive electrochemical method was developed to determine ethyl violet (EV) dye in aqueous systems by using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) employing a glassy carbon electrode modified with acidic-functionalized carbon nanotubes (COOH- f CNTs). In square wave anodic stripping voltammetry, EV exhibited a well-defined oxidation peak at 0.86 V at the modified GCE. Impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry were used to examine the charge tran… Show more

“…Based on our findings, it appears that the behavior of the reaction on the WS 2 -MWCNT surface was regulated by adsorption, as confirmed by the log I vs log ν plot. The observed slope and the correlation coefficient were found to be 0.766 and 0.999, respectively (Figure H), which are indicative of a surface-assisted reaction taking place at the sensor surface …”

“…The observed slope and the correlation coefficient were found to be 0.766 and 0.999, respectively (Figure 3H), which are indicative of a surfaceassisted reaction taking place at the sensor surface. 41 To conduct real-time analysis, we tested the specificity of the WS 2 -MWCNT electrode toward PFOA in the presence of various interfering ions. The signal generation of different metal salts and surfactants, including sulfates, nitrates, chloride, CTAB, and SBS, was established under optimized conditions.…”

“…The limit of detection (LOD) of 0.109 nM and quantification (LOQ) of 0.369 nM were calculated using the following equations. 28 Here, σ symbolizes the standard deviation determined from the peak current value of the blank solution (twelve runs) and m indicates the slope that was obtained from the calibration plot of lower concentrations.…”

“…Among the approaches mentioned above, the electrochemical degradation route is more expensive than other approaches for dye degradation [ 199 ]. The main reason for reduced implementation of the electrochemical approach is high energy consumption, the requirement for more chemicals, and costly equipment [ 200 , 201 ]. Other challenges in implementing the electrochemical approach are the production of metabolites and other by-products during these processes.…”
